Back From Idaho

Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks. Bekah, Liam, and I went back to Idaho for a couple of weeks. We left on the 26th of July and got back to So Cal on the 9th of August. We had a great time. We went camping above Idaho City with my grandparents for 3 days, and it was great. We rode the 4-wheelers all over the mountains, played in some creeks, saw a forest fire, and just relaxed. Needless to say that it was the epitome of a camping trip, and we were able to catch up to ourselves. It was fun to catch up to people that I hadn't seen in quite awhile. I saw Chad Nicholson a couple of times, and it was certainly good to catch up. We spent some time with Heidi and Tyler Jeans, some stealthy home shopping. Had a chance run-in with Luke and Sara Miller at Chapala. Of course we got to see family, lots of family. I got to hang out with my brother's in-law, played some video games. (On a side note, everyone should play the game Katamari Damacy, a Japanese import, it's amazing). Played guitar with my dad and my uncle, and got to play some on my great-grandfathers old Martin (an amazing instrument). This trip was a first for me due to the fact that for the first time since I began graduate school I didn't take any work with me on the trip. This translates to a lot less guilt and anxiety, and a lot more time spent hanging out with friends and family. Well I have to get going, back to the grind that is our life in So Cal. Peace out.

P.S. - If you want to see pictures you can check out the link to the Hall Family Album on the side.

Past week

Well it's been a good couple of weeks. Shelly was here in LA for business, and she got to stay with us a couple of days. It's always good to see her, especially since she's living on the other coast. Liam and I went to the a concert at a record store in Long Beach (Brett Dennen - Liam's first show), the beach, and the aquarium last week, and this week we are getting ready to go back to Idaho for a couple of weeks. We're really excited to go back. We are going camping with my grandparents, and it's the first time Liam has been camping.

Other than that I'm just working on my dissertation (preparing a submission for the Ethics Review Committee) and continuing to prepare for the internship application process. Steady plugging away. Well I'm off, but I hope to see anyone that is in Idaho while we are there. Peace.

Tag I'm It

Seriously, this is amazing. Someone else wants me to post something about music.

Well Scott here it is, my top 15 from my iPod shuffle.
  1. The Swimming Song - Loudon Wainwright III
  2. On Your Wings - Iron and Wine
  3. Mastermind - NaS
  4. The Anchor Song - Bjork
  5. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
  6. It's All Over Now Baby Blue - Bob Dylan
  7. This Is Love - PJ Harvey
  8. Why (The King Of Love Is Dead)(Live) - Nina Simone
  9. Hurricane - Bob Dylan
  10. I Don't Know Where I'm Bound - Johnny Cash
  11. Truly, Madly, Deeply - Ray LaMontagne
  12. Happy Home - Tupac
  13. Scenario - A Tribe Called Quest
  14. Walk On The Ocean - Toad The Wet Sprocket
  15. Mix Up, Mix Up - Bob Marley
I'm a little disappointed that I have to stop at 15, but here they are. Pretty good list. Conspicuously missing are Led Zeppelin, John Coltrane, and the members of Nickel Creek. Well I have to stop now.

Oh, I would tag someone, but the only bloggers that I know (2) either tagged me or got hit from another part of the same chain.

Peace Out

First Post

Well Bekah and I have been blogging about Liam for the past couple of years, and it has been fun. Recently I have been wanting to post things that I have been thinking about, and I didn't want to disrupt the unadulterated cuteness of Liam's world. So this will be my forum. I don't figure that these blogs will be entirely coherent, but maybe, taken over the course of a couple months they may just string together and, who knows, make sense. Anyway I figure that I'll be writing about music, theology, family life, my dissertation, friends, and all the little things that make my life what it is. Well here it is and here it goes.

P.S. - Bear with me while I figure this site out.
